Okay let’s have a short imaginary trip here.
Imagine your going to the toilet. You sit down to be absolved of your daily sins. you reach for your phone. it isn’t there!!! you already know that the preach is going to be long one. you look around for something to read. shaving cream!! you grab it and go for the first time ever to the instructions behind the bottle
Now imagine if instead of having the basic old instructions behind the bottle it actually had a cool fact, short story or a thank you message from the creators of said product.
Now imagine that with a website everytime you go to search for new clothes, fancy teas or rare bottles of whiskey.
Doesn’t that just scream Rich and thoughtful?
Well that’s what you get when people start thinking about their content strategy and how to keep their viewers interested in other ways than just showing nice pictures of the products.
Wolf and Badger:
What seems to be a growing trend is to showcase your products and combine them with a blog post.
this makes it easier for the users to relate to the products and getting items that have some story you can tell about them makes them a lot memorable.
Rare Tea Co:
While others constentrate on creating fleshed out stories about their product others think of more creative ways of using theirs. one of these is Rare Tea Co which has a section in their page where they have recipes for the teas they sell. that and combined with their blog where one of the owners of the business goes around the world investigating are a good way of having your users invested to follow your page just to follow the updates.
luxury linqerie and nightwear site hush has a bit more broad selection of content strategy. while rareteaco and wolf&badger make use with their blog posts centering around their own products, Hush takes the posts on a journey. from 50 places to visit to talking with celebreties, hush goes into many places with their topics. this is a great way of keeping people interested because even if they don’t want to buy anything they can check in to see what they are currently discussin at hush and spread the word around.
While all the businesses above center around getting more interaction with the customers, FitBit seems to be the winner on the interaction basis.
And while they do have a lot of what the ones above has the one thing that the others seem to lack a bit is.
Social media interaction.
What many of the above probably have now too but earlier didn’t. social media interaction and fast customer replies is a key element that will keep your customers satisfied with what they get. even if it isn’t about something as unfortunate as here.
FitBit also does video on their current events and new training ideas and techniques.
third and final is the additional content, the apps and programs that users can buy or download to enchance their use with the product.
all of these make fit bit gain a lot of popularity and the rapid feedback is keeping a good percentage of users satisfied as they get useful tips to their problems that might appear.
Personal content strategy
by Reading through what all these other pages have to offer what i think would be a best for increasing my product richness would be to:
- In debth stories and blog posts about all products
- How it was found, what is it’s history, scientific facts. maybe even a cool story for the customer.
- Social media back up to help customers with their questions and needs.
- Create a section for more than just the products on the page. maybe display normal updates like daily achievements or interesting interviews and such, like in a magazine.
So what did I add to the page.
As my time here is limited, what I decided instead of detailed descriptions for all products or many pages blog posts (which I am already doing) I made a small news timeline in the page showing off the newsfeed of my facebook page. this will help people connect to the facebook page and vice versa. and reading up the most recent news also brings more richness to it.
Is there a Too rich?
There are many things to add for your page to make it more rich and user attracted.
But also too much is too much and turning your page into all the things above might change the aim of your page a bit and over work you severaly. thinking what is essential for you is most important.
